Who am I?

I'm from Houston, a graduate of the University of Texas, a fan of the Houston Astros and Houston Texans. But this blog will be about the "greater sports", whatever that means.

Sportsman of the Week Ending 10/20/2024

The World Series has converged on the best two regular season teams (and highest payrolls) with star studded lineups ready to square off in the Fall Classic.  The New York Yankees are in the World Series for the first time in 15 years and the teams seems to have a new edge and attitude thanks to an offseason trade for Juan Soto.  The World Series champion has been a menace all year and the American League Championship Series was no exception.  Against the Cleveland Guardians, Soto went 7-19 (.368 Ted Williams level), 3 HR, and 6 RBI in 5 games.  But his biggest blow was in extra innings in Game 5 as he teed off on Hunter Gaddis for a 2 out, 2 strike three run home run to seal the Guardians fate.  While Aaron Judge will be the AL MVP, the team MVP may be Juan Soto for his energy and difference.  A worthy Longhorndave Sportsman of the Week!
