Who am I?

I'm from Houston, a graduate of the University of Texas, a fan of the Houston Astros and Houston Texans. But this blog will be about the "greater sports", whatever that means.

Sportsman of the Week Ending 5/25/2014

Monster competition this week between NBA and NHL playoffs, the greatest day in motor sports, and MLB action. We have to give a nod to the first no hitter of 2014.  Josh Beckett of the Los Angeles Dodgers was the perpetrator, keeping the hapless Phillies in check for 9 innings, with dominant stuff and solid fielding.  He's gone from a 20-something flame-thrower to a 30-something master of the pitching art.  For the no-hitter, he threw 128 pitches, 80 for strikes to get his third win in as many starts (so for the week, he went 2-0).  We love no hitters, and Josh Beckett gave us what we like, and is our Sportsman of the Week!
